Park Sentinel - Black & White Version

Southern live oak trees (Quercus virginiana) grow primarily along a narrow strip of the United States' southeastern coastline.  These evergreen trees are probably best known for the massive horizontal limbs that give old trees their majestic character.  The trunks can grow to more than six feet in diameter, with branches up to one hundred feet long.  The tree in this image is in a small Mobile, Alabama neighborhood park named Washington Square.
